Carsington Water
Weekly fishing report: Monday 2nd June to Sunday 15th June
Dear All
Please accept my apologies for the absence of the regular fishing report from Carsington Water. I have been away from work for some time and unfortunately our back system for issuing the report did not work as intended. All the missing reports will be available to read soon. And please find attached the report cover the first two weeks of June. Normal service should now be resumed and you should all get a weekly report for the rest of the season.
Many Thanks for your understanding.

Report.
Well it finally feels a bit like summer! The water is warming up now with the thermometer on the jetty showing 16 degrees at 6ft. The Winds have mainly been from the West and not too strong. There are plenty of Lake Olives hatching and a few Damsels, there have even been some Mayfly (should really be called Junefly I think!) and the sedges are starting to come of an evening. The first of the pin fry have been seen and discovered in the stomach contents of a few fish as well. The Fish have started to spread out from the margins and particularly along the Western Bank the fish have been a good distance out.
Slow relaxed fishing is really the key at the moment, with buzzers and nymphs accounting for most of the fish. Fish the buzzers on as long a leader as you can manage, the longer the better, and just leave them absolutely static or just the slowest of figure 8’s just to keep in touch with them. Nymphs have worked best fished on an intermediate or a sink tip line and again just a slow figure of eight for the retrieve.
Best rainbow for the last two weeks goes to Mr P Hind who landed a superb 5lb 1oz rainbow. Mr Hind tempted the trout with a green buzzer fished static under a bung in Sheepwash Bay. The Best Brown Goes to Ross Dyer-Smith who caught a stunning 5lb grown on Brown from Brown Ale Bay. This cracking fish fell to a Gold Head Hares Ear fished on a floating line and just left to drift round on the breeze.
There have also been several good Rudd (to 2lb 8oz) on the returns as well as one Perch this last couple of weeks.
Top spots for the week were Tower Bank, Sheepwash, Oldfields Lane and Shinningford Creek from the boats and Millfields Point and Upperfields Bay from the bank. The best flies were Black or Green Buzzers, Diawl Bach’s, Hares Ear, PTN, Damsel nymphs, Cormorants and Black and Peacock Spider.
Tight lines for 2008
