Report.

Well the unseasonable weather continues across the country bringing numb fingers and wind burnt faces to anglers everywhere! The winds at Carsington Water have remained mainly from the north or the west and the water temperature has been around 6 degrees.

Regular angler Brian Nadin landed this week’s best rainbow, a lovely full finned fish of 5lb 2oz. Brian was anchored up in the shelter of Tower Bank fishing one of his favoured methods at Carsington, a team of buzzers fished on an intermediate line and retrieved with a slow figure 8. When he hooked his prize fish everything went solid and then went tearing away taking line from his reel. It was not until several mintues of fighting had passed that Brian was able to get the net under the fish and bring it safely aboard his boat.

The Best Brown this week fell to another regular, Brian Cupples. Brian was fishing from a boat in Sheepwash using a black & green lure on a medium sink line and was retrieving with steady pulls of about 2ft.  His best brown was a superb over wintered fish weighing in at 2lb 8oz and was the second brown of the day for Brian. He also landed 8 rainbows giving him a cracking total of ten fish for the day.

Top spots for the week were Tower Bank, Sheepwash, Millfields Bay and  Fishtail Creek from the boats and Millfields Point and Upperfields Bay from the bank.

The best flies were Black Buzzers, Black & Green lures, Montana’s, and Damsel nymphs.

Tight lines for 2008
