Report

It has been a week of two half’s this week. It started with light winds and nice cloud cover and rising fish everywhere. As the week wore on it became gradually flatter and brighter until it reached total flat calm with pure blue sky on Sunday! Early in the week the main tactic’s were dries or nymphs on a floater (washing lined or straight lined) and as the weather got brighter and calmer nymphs fished deep or small black lures fished deep were the order of the day. Now we finally appear to have reached summer the fish have spread out well and they can be found right across the middle where, if the conditions are right they can be seen feeding off the top. Other top area’s this week include Half Moon Field, Upperfields Bay, the mouth of Fishtail Creek and the Dam Wall.

Top Rainbow this week goes to S Wallace who landed his cracking 4lb 3oz rainbow from Fishtail Creek using a Hare’s Ear on a floater with a figure 8 retrieve.

Honours for the best Brown trout go to Mr Nelson who tempted a stunning grown on Brown of 5lb 7oz with a buzzer fished static just past the edge of the weed beds off Half Moon Field. This is one of the very best browns to come off this season and was a perfect example of a fully finned, black spotted naturally grown Brown Trout, so congratulations Mr Nelson!

Top spots for the week were Half Moon Field, Fishtail Creek, Upperfields Bay, Millfieds Bay and drifts across the centre from the boats and Millfields Point and Upperfields Bay from the bank.

The best flies were Diawl Bach, Black buzzer, Cormorants, Hares Ears, Cats Whisker, Black Lures and Orange Blob.

Tight lines for 2008
