Report.
It has been a mixed bag of weather this week. We have had some sunshine, some rain and wind from almost every point on the compass. The water temperature has dropped a degree to 15 degrees. The long horn sedge’s are still hatching well as are the Damsels. There are also pin fry in the water now and they can often be seen alongside the jetty and will be present wherever there is a weed bed. The fishing has been up and down with the weather, some days the fish have been up top and feeding and other days they have been sulking in the depths. It has certainly paid to try a huge range of depths to find them. The fish have also spread out well now and are even being found out across the middle of the reservoir, so covering as much water as possible has also paid dividends. Top rainbow this week goes to Iain Lyndsay who tempted a superb 5lb 3oz fish with an orange blob. Iain was fishing across the mouth of Brown Ale Bay with a floating line with an orange blob on the top dropper and nymphs on the middle and point. He was retrieving his flies with steady pulls when this monster snatched the blob and took off.  Best Brown this week goes to John Parnham who landed a long lean fish of 3lb 10oz. John’s cracking grown on brown fell to a damsel fished on a floating line whlist drift the bank at Hall Wood. Top spots for the week were Tower Bank, Millfields Bay, Brown Ale Bay and Half Moon Field from the boats and Millfields Point and Upperfields Bay from the bank. The best flies were Damsel nymphs, Buzzers, Soldier Palmer, Diawl Bach, Dabblers, Cormorants, Orange Blob and  Cats Whisker’s.

Tight lines for 2008
