Report.

The Wind started in the West swung to the South for the mid part of the week and back round to the West again by the end of the week. There has been a mixture of cloudy days and very bright days this week which, which combined with the changeable winds has made the fishing more challenging. The water temperature remains at 16 degrees and there is still plenty of insects hatching on the reservoir. Along with the multitudes of buzzers the long horn sedge are hatching now as well as the Damsels & Olives. The honours for best Rainbow this week are shared by Mr P Wigglesworth & Richard Waldouh. Both Landed Cracking rainbows of 4lb 8 oz. Mr Wigglesworth caught his trout from a boat at the Dam Wall using a gold head damsel on a floating line. He was retrieving his flies with a steady pull when his fish grabbed the damsel and tore off with it. Richard Waldouh caught his cracker in Brown Ale bay where he was drifting a team of black buzzers round on the breeze. Best Brown this week goes to Mr G Reid, he landed a superb fully finned brown of 3lb 3oz. Mr Reid was fishing in Sheepwash Bay where he was also drifting buzzers on a floating line.  His flies were just coming round on the breeze when the line straitened and he was in! It was several arm aching minutes later before his prize fish was safely in the boat. Top spots for the week were Tower Bank, Sheepwash, Brown Ale Bay and  The Dam Wall from the boats and Millfields Point and Upperfields Bay from the bank.
The best flies were Black or Green Buzzers, Diawl Bach’s, Hares Ear, Damsel nymphs, Cormorants and  Cats Whisker’s.

Tight lines for 2008
