Ranger's review:
Anglers at Scaling Dam have had another fantastic week, with even the previous week's excellent rod average being surpassed, with the week ending at 5.1 per angler. The non stop action produced 17 fish over 3lbs and 45 anglers took their full fish limits. With no particular hot spot, all areas of the reservoir were in top form. Once again both bait and fly tactics had an equal share of the action. All the popular baits and a huge variety of fly patterns caught fish.

The best rainbow of the week was caught on the South Shore by Bridlington bait angler Mrs Kathleen Scott. Her 9lbs fish was tempted by a garden worm. Mr K. Harland from Middlesbrough caught a rainbow of 7lbs 9oz, also on the South Shore, using worm and Powerbait cocktail. The best fish taken on fly weighed in at 8lbs 8oz and was caught in the Groyne area by Skelton angler Mr Tommy Johns. His successful pattern was the Soldier Palmer. Fly fishing has really taken off, with many anglers returning between 12 and 20 fish. Overall the Bank Holiday weekend has been one of the best on record.
Best catch: 9lb, Mrs K Scott.
Best flies: Lures, variety of assorted wets & nymphs.
Best baits: All baits catching well.
Best areas: All areas in top form.
