Ranger's Review:

There were 2400 lb of rainbows stocked during the week running up to the start of the season.
Worm and multi-bait anglers caught the majority of the fish due to the very cold conditions which made fly fishing challenging.  The heaviest rainbow was a fish of 4lb caught by G. Barcroft.
Hawkhope Slipway was the best area for bank anglers over the weekend.
Please note: The permit machine in the South Abutment Lodge will not be in operation for the 2008 season all permits will be sold from Leaplish Waterside Park and Tower Knowe Visitor Centre  (opens Good Friday).
Fishing boat hire for March and April is available at Leaplish Waterside Park from 9am until 3.30pm  boats must be booked in advance, tel: 01434 251000.
The brown trout season does not start at Kielder until the 1st of may.
Best catch:    4lb rainbow.

Best bait:      Worm and Sweetcorn.

Best areas:    Tower Knowe and Hawkhope.
