Ranger's review:
Grassholme had a great week as the fine weather continued and the fish really began to feed
in earnest. With the fish up and willing to chase, anglers had success using a wide range of
methods. Those anglers who prefer spinning had their best week of the season so far with some
very good catches being taken this way with red or orange flying 'C's being the most effective.
Fly fishing has been consistent all week with a set-up of Black Fritz on the point, small Nymph in
the middle and Bibio Hopper on the top dropper fished on a floater or slow intermediate line covering
all options and accounting for some lovely resident fish. On the brighter days, (yes the sun does
occasionally shine up here!), the fish have gone deeper and bait anglers have scored well ledgering
Pink or Yellow Power Eggs.
Michael Bell from Annfield Plain was well rewarded for having a long walk, fishing right along the
relatively un-fished middle reaches of the North shore and was well rewarded, taking the biggest blue
of the season so far, a 7lb 8oz specimen in pristine condition, float fished worm was it's downfall.
Best flies:   Hare's Ear, Bibio Hoppers, Black Emergers, Dawson's Olive, Black Fritz
and traditional wets.
Best baits:   Float fished worm, Yellow or Orange Power Eggs.
Best areas:   Fish well spread right along the North shore, small bays along South shore
also holding fish.
