Ranger's review:

A cracking start to 2008 with fish well spread out and many fish in the 2 - 3lb range being caught. This gave anglers some tremendous sport with a good sprinkling of blues to spice things up, the best of which was a magnificently conditioned fish of 4lb caught by Derek Thompson who  thought he had hooked a submarine with the fight the fish put up!
Fish appear to be well spread through the water depths as is shown by the variety of successful  methods with catches taken on float fished worm and ledgered Powerbait fished on a long trace of  3 - 4 feet.  All this despite gale force winds making bites hard to detect at times. These winds also  made it very difficult for fly anglers to cast as the wind funnelled down the reservoir.  Those who  braved the conditions took some nice trout using intermediate or slow sink lines. From the start of April we will be stocking some home grown very large fish and there will be a reward of a free  day's fishing for the captor of the heaviest fish each month .

Best flies:    Black Fritz, Dawson's Olive, Viva.

Best baits:    Orange Powerbait & worm cocktail with Magic Dust in feeder.

Best areas:    Lodge front, Witch's Hat, Low Rigg bank.
