Hi from Chew Valley
A very unseasonable week with some very strong winds making fishing difficult many days and impossible on others. When conditions have allowed there is still some very good dry fly fishing especially in the evenings. Bank fishing in the daytimes has been pretty good providing you found a nice sheltered spot.
Beginner David Johnson-Norton went afloat with Malcolm Fisher on Chew and took a super 7-8 fish. Well done David
Boats available most days at present though weekends are still very popular. With fishing going on until 10.30 this week an evening's sport is well worth a try.
Regards
Bob Handford
Weather: A much more changeable week with mainly cloudy days, showers and fresh to strong winds. Some better evenings.
Water: The strong winds have stirred up both Chew and Blagdon colouring the water but also freshening the surface. Weed growth is still not presenting much of a problem at any of the lakes. The surface water temperature remains at around 17°C.
Barrows: No 3 is still proving to be the best lake to fish. Plenty of fly early and late has produced some good rises but nymphs and mice are often the best catchers throughout the day.
