Another very good week for all our lakes with some excellent catches and big fish. Although things have warmed slightly its still cold for the end of April. There have been some very good hatches of buzzer all round and the fish have been after them on the surface on the better days. But any cold winds or showers soon put the fish down although often they often stay close to the top. Warmer conditions will see better fishing early mornings and late evenings though mid-day sport may become more difficult in bright sunshine. Our casting and fishing tutor, Mike Gleave, has returned after illness and takes up the teaching role at Woodford on Saturdays. As well as our own tuition the Salmon and Trout Association are organising tuition especially for youngsters at Chew Valleyduring May and June. Details are attached with some pictures of the recent big fish. See you at the waterside.

Blagdon: Some fantastic boat fishing at Blagdon this week from the Top End of the lake. Many anglers are completing the full 16 fish limit with many more returning fish before bagging up. Nymphs fished on floating and intermediate lines is the method fished very slowly. Bank fishing is still good although a little harder than last week mainly due to the East wind has made fishing the favourite banks of North Shore and Butcombe more difficult.
