What a change to the weather finally no more North Easterly winds, with the weather warming up and the aerators being turned on the water has colored up a bit this week with some anglers really struggling.  A rod average of 3.6 isn't to bad as some days the conditions have been awful.     Foremark Fly Fishers held a match at the weekend with conditions not ideal with Bright sun the fishing was always going to be tricky but good old Merv Amos from Burton showed us all the way by winning the match with 10 fish all on the Bung at 13ft.  Merv fished down the Cavers arm all day trying spots all the way down from Sunblest Bay to The power lines taking 10 for the day and losing 6 others just to prove that they are catch-able.  I took 2nd place with a bag of 5 fish for 13lb 10oz the best a brown of 5lb 10oz what a cracker!!!  Alan Dawes who has been catching for fun all season came 3rd with another great performance taking 8 fish but just weighed 1oz less than myself sorry Al.    Fishing this week will be better in the mornings or late evenings if the weather stays this hot,  top places to fish will be any where down the Cavers Arm with the trout still feeding hard on the Mayfly,  around the cage area, Sailing club, Flamingo and up on the boils this will start to pull the fish in and we could be surprised by a big fish popping up there soon so watch out. Fish down deep when the weather is bright and hot and don't be scared to fish your nymphs on a sinking line to get down to where the fish are feeding.  hope to see you up here soon and tight lines Phil Dixon.
