Weekly results week ending - 6th June   133 anglers caught 735 fish rod average 5.3   What a week!! Near spot on conditions throughout the whole week, warm, overcast days ideal for fishing, with few bright periods. Therefore plenty of fish on or near the surface with CDC dries, nymphs and buzzers of many types proving successful. No particular best area as the wind has been very changeable - again, some days turning 360 degrees. Washing line method has been good, fishing a small booby on the point with a couple of buzzers or diawl bachs hanging.   Bank has fished well but plenty of fish showing further out now, so it's time to get drifting loch style with teams of wets for some exciting sport, especially in the evenings.   Best rainbow of the week was caught by Toft part time bailiff and local hero Pete Cowan from Scunthorpe at 6Ib 2oz, I've attached a photo of the handsome beast.

Toft Open bank match sponsored by FIRE CONTAINMENT LTD. - THE RESULTS.....   This fishing competition with the generous sponsorship of FIRE CONTAINMENT LTD is unprecedented in it's prize fund for any one day event. A fantastic opportunity for an angler to arrive at a fishery, pay just £35 and have a chance to take home a £1000 prize. I had limited places to 60 and expected them all to be filled but sadly that didn't happen, however a great bunch of 45 anglers did take part and competed in this 'different' match. The rules were that an angler could kill any 6 fish and then stop fishing. There were many tactics suggested on what would be the best way to go and this left the whole thing open to a gamble that might or more to the point might not, pay off!?   June 7th turned out to be an ideal fishing day with warm overcast skies and light northerly variable winds. The match was fished from 2pm to 8pm with anglers drawing for peg numbers and moving around the reservoir every hour and a quarter. Most fish on the day were caught very near the surface, some on small boobies and some on small dries. The first anglers who had decided to kill their fish early and take a gamble finished fishing at around 5pm and retired to the fishery office for a beer (or two). The majority fished on for the duration with four or five fish in the bag and hoped for a big fish late on.   So, to the results...   1st went to visiting Midlands angler Mark Haycock who picked up the Toft Open trophy and a cheque for £1,000 with 6 fish for 12Ib 15oz including a rainbow of 4Ib 3oz 2nd John Littler from Sutton in Ashfield who fishes Toft regularly and is part of the ToftTrout.com fishing team - 6 fish for 12Ib 7oz secured him a cheque for £600 3rd Neil Deakin from Sutton in Ashfield, again a Toft regular and ToftTrout.com member - 6 fish for 12Ib 2oz - picked up £400   Best fish was a rainbow of 5ib 2oz to Michael Jellis from West Sussex caught in the last five minutes. Michael received a fishing reel and spool donated by Andy at the Lincolnshire fly shop at Waltham.   I'm sure I speak on behalf of all of the anglers who took apart when I say a big THANK YOU to Dave Sheriff and Firecon LTD for their support and I hope this is the just the beginning of further exciting events to be held at Toft.   I've attached a photograph of the winners.
