Another great week of fishing has been had at foremark with plenty of fine fish coming out up to 8lb and some really good bags.  It was a really busy week on the lake with 2 big matches being held and over 120 anglers turned out for them.  A rod average of 4.6 was a total for the weeks catch which is great as a lot of anglers had a go at fishing this week.    Bank fishing is still really good with a lot of fish still holding in the bays nice and close in, with the cooler weather and east winds these fish will stay in close until the warm weather comes if it does??  Top patterns have been anything small and imitative black buzzers,PTN, crunchers, diawl bachs and small damsels.  Boat lads are having great sport around the cage and in the main bays around the lodge but also down the Cavers Arm on the Mayfly, Yes Mayflies.  Bramble Bay and over on the Gorse bushes have seen a lot of Mayfly coming off in the wright conditions so it's well worth a look late afternoon.     The first match held this week was the Rolls Royce match which was teams of 3 anglers 2 on the boat and 1 on the bank and good match was had with a rod average of 4.8 and only 6 anglers out of 80 didn't catch.  The top weight for 8 fish without time bonus was 20lb 8ozs and was taken from the boat fishing on a slime line and a Minkie Booby.  The next match was held the day after and with the lake like a Mill Pond no wind at all the fish were free rising but hard to get close to.  At the end of the day Martin Dixon (yes my dad) won the Foremark Open with 18 fish for a total of 31lb 8ozs.  The match was fished to a 3 fish limit then catch and release with every fish going back counting for 2lb.  Martin fished around Flamingo Bay, Sailing club bay and around the cages to take top spot, his boat partner Tom Davies also had a great day boating 14 fish and finishing 3rd.  Mark Davies from Burton was close in 2nd place with 16 fish.  The method for the day was fishing small nymphs high in the water using a booby to keep them in the top 3ft.  Overall it was a great day and fished well with a rod average of 5.2.  Thanks to every one who turned up and hope you had a great day and made some new friends, hopefully you will fish the next one.
