Mr Andy Reeves from Croftlea Crook with a superb double at 25lbs 12ozs. This monster took the anglers flyline and backing down twice into the middle of the West Lake with a green and white Tadpole on the point. At the weigh-in Andy's comment was ' think we need bigger scales' at Witton.
Tom Young from Southshields fishing off the top one late evening on CDC Hares Ear secured a beautiful 14lbs 4oz blue silver completing with a 4lb and 2lb, along with Terry Ross from Willington completing his day with fish of 7lb, 4lb and 2lb.
Natural flies ecloding at the moment are Alders, Lake Olives and Simulim (black reed smutt).
Flies for the top water anglers have been Olive Nymphs, CDC Olives,Olive Shuttlecocks,
Olive 'F' fly, and Sugar Cube Hares Ears.
Some sporting permit anglers are having exceptional days, even at times with rapid changes in air temperature during the afternoon. Mr A Parker from Consett and Mr Ross Middleton fron Sunderland both returned 20 fish each, on small imitative patterns.
Mr David Coxon from Chester le Street and Mr I Purvis from Gateshead both returned 16 fish each ,two of which were nice blues on CDC Patterns.

I would like to sign off with congratulations to my work college Mr Bill Scaife on his retirement as Fishery Manager at WCL for 17yrs, and welcome his replacement onto the team Mr Tom Osborne.
