Thornton Fishing report week ending 11/05/08
Despite the weathers best effort to fool us into thinking its mid summer with daytime temperatures of 25 degrees we have enjoyed another good weeks fishing with 309 rods catching 1,134 trout for a rod average of 3.7 During the cooler first half of the week we enjoyed excellent surface sport with a good evening rise to buzzers with the farm bank, lonesome pine, stones & dam been the most productive areas. As the weekend approached & bright hot conditions prevailed any evening rise was during the cooler last half hour of fishing. During the week anglers caught on floating lines with dries & emerges, indicators & buzzers, intermediate lines with small gold headed hares ears, damsels & buzzers & during any bright hot spells in the weather a Wet Cell2 or DI3 line with hares ears, damsels & buzzers. Bank anglers have continued to catch with the area from the corner of the wood past the lonesome pine & along to the farm bank been the most productive area with the early to late morning & early evening producing best. Our hawthorn is just about in full flower we should hopefully see the hawthorn fly this coming week. Notable catches this week A. Wale caught 11 trout to 4lb8oz, Norma Prime caught 11 to 4lb on hoppers, hares ear & buzzers, A. Freer caught 14, Clive Holt fished an evening session to catch 13, J, Dolman fished a morning session to catch 12, Len Hill caught 14 on small hares ears, Tony Lorrimer caught 19 for his visit P.
