169 anglers caught 493 fish rod average 2.9   A warm and bright week this week, nice to be out in but not ideal fishing weather. Daytime sport has been surprisingly good, especially for the boat anglers. Fish feeding 40 to 70 yards out are a little out of reach of most bank men. Buzzers fished on floating lines and 20 foot + leaders have been very successful. Most effective method is to fish a large, heavy buzzer on the point with a couple of droppers - just cast out & slowly retrieved or left static. Olive, black & red best.   As you'd imagine during such a warm spell, the evening rises have been excellent, so if you are intending to fish on a brighter day, then plan to stay late if possible. The fish move very close in to the banks in the evening with lots of buzzers hatching of all shapes and sizes. Small dries and emergers very good when the fish are active.   It's been a very good week for the 3Ib+ book this week. Best rainbow has been 8Ib to Lincoln angler Ken Slone taken on a buzzer, there's been several others 6Ib+ and I've attached a photograph of:

neil_mcelwee7Ib4.jpg

Neil McElwee from Derby with a cracking wintered rainbow of 7Ib 4oz also taken on a buzzer. Some of you may remember Neil from many years ago, when he was being shown the ropes at Toft by the late John Faulkner, himself one of the most accomplished 'buzzer men' I ever recall at the fishery.   Trevor Ward from Dinnington had the best catch this week, 45 fish taken right through the day fishing his top secret buzzer patterns from a boat. He could show you, but he'd have to kill you ! Please don't forget the Toft Open Bank Match, it's a great opportunity for anglers of all abilities to have a crack at winning a grand ! If it's well supported then I'm sure it will become an annual event with a growing prize fund. There's no other one off match that I know of nationally that offers a 1k prize! So, to all of those anglers that thought they might give it a go, please do! We'll be fishing to a 6 fish limit - with fish selection being allowed and No time bonus. The winner will be decided by the heaviest dead weight of fish. Sponsored by FIRE CONTAINMENT LTD on June 7th. £35 entry - £1,000 first prize. Limited to 60 entrants  - tickets still available. Book in and have a go !!   Shop now stocking Snowbee gear and their new selection of quality fly lines, we're as cheap as the Internet and second to none for customer service !!   Jason Foster
