Foremark w/e 27/04/08

Yet another great week of fishing even the weather is getting better now.  Fish have been coming out all week and some up to 8lb.  4.9 was the rod average for this week at Foremark with anglers taking there limits and some lads catching over 20 fish.      Scott Wilson led the way this week taking 23 fish off the bank on a variety of flies from buzzers on the floater to a Green/black Fritz on the Di3 just to show how much the fish are on and how many fish are in the lake.  The hot spots on the bank have been around the Lodge Flamingo Bay and Verduns Point, Don't be afraid to walk down the Cavers Arm as the fish are all the way down to the Cables at the nature reserve.  Boat anglers have also been catching well all the way down the Ticknall bank on Buzzers and Nymphs.  Carl Nixon had the largest fish this week and what a fish it was, Carl played the fish for 10 minutes before he saw the fish and boy was he shocked when a lovely overwintered fish of 8lb 3ozs rolled over his nett.  Carl fished from the boat over on the east bank and tempted the fish along with 12 others on a 14ft leader with a team of Black Buzzers. FOREMARK FALCONS
This new team, set up by Foremark Fishery owner Phil Dixon, and including two members new to team fly fishing, Gary Owen from Coalville and Mark Davies from Burton, made its debut in two high profile matches at Rutland last week.
On Monday 21st April the team fished a heat of the Lexus European championships. Despite strong competition the 6 Falcons caught the highest number of fish 46. The team with the second highest number of fish, Team Loch Style, boated the day's largest fish of almost 6lb, so the Falcons had to be content with 2nd place, comfortably qualifying for the second round on Chew Valley Lake in early August.
On Sat 26th April the teams battled for qualification to the North England Final of the prestigious Anglian Water sponsored competition. Again the Falcons fished consistently, only pipped for first place by the team of local expert Iain Barr.
Phil Dixon said of the first two matches "Thanks to our sponsors, including Walkers of Trowell and Bakewell Fly Shop, our preparation was superb. We had a sound game plan which was carried out brilliantly by all of our team".
More reports on the Falcons results will following during the season.   Hopefully now with this warm weather the dries will really start to work and the fish will carry on feeding.  See you all soon and tight Lines.
