The lakes continue to fish well despite the cold overnight frosts and cool daytime winds. The fish remain just subsurface and mostly taken on Buzzers, Bloodworm,Zonkers and Cats Whisker.
Given a slight warming of weather, goodness knows when, we will soon see olives start to appear and then this will herald the cream of the top of the water sport for which Witton is noted. Certainly GRHE, PTN, and Daiwl Bach nymphs will all come into their own along with Suspender Buzzers and CDC patterns will outfish everthing else.
Best fish this week fell to Mr Howard Paul only his second ever fish caught with the fly weighing 18lbs 4ozs and taken on a Cats Whisker.

Master Thomas Conlin on his second cast fishing a Cats Whisker secured a quaulity blue trout of 4lbs 2ozs.
Mr Paul Walton from Coundon took a 12lb 8oz rainbow and a 11lb blue on a Black Zonker., whilst Mr Stuart Hambleton from Bishop Auckland took a 11lb 8oz.blue and rainbow of 10lbs 8ozs and 3lbs 12ozs for his bag.
On sporting permits Mr Joe Myers from Lanchester returned a further good quautity of 21 fish best to 8lbs on Bloodworms and Buzzers. Always told you shutting that shop of yours and fishing longer would increase your fish average.
Mr Terry Sharp and Mr Derek Grabham from Teeside fished together on sporting permits and returned 19 and 21 fish respectively mostly to Buzzers.
Thankyou
