Witton anglers downed rods as quite an unusual fisherwomen arrived on the scene, and fished the East lake. She was a mature female osprey on her migratory route Northwards,
hovering over the lake whilst being harassed by the local jackdaws of the region. Anglers antisipated a dive and a talon full of fish, but she headed North with other things on her mind, just like a women!
Weather patterns, well just all over the place, anglers braving these conditions have had some good sport even in torrential rain , however it has been hard at times when that wind gets up again, and the fish go deeper. This is when a slime or intermediate flyline fishes best, with one of the now many colours in Zonkers and Bloodworms.
Best fish of the week returned on a sporting permit was 17lb. by Mr Geoffrey Thorn from Evenwood on a Black Buzzer.
Mr Martin Reed from Lanchester had a super quality fish at 11lbs 8ozs, it fell to a Black Fritz.

Junior angler Ryan Matthews from Cockfield a quality 5lbder on a Bloodworm, watch out for this 13yr old in the future, what a superb angler and elegant caster.

Mr Grant Hughes from Stanley's fish of 10lbs fell to an orange Zonker completing his days sport with a further 4lbder.

Sporting permit anglers Mr Gary Parmley 5 fish best to 15lbs, and Mr Kenneth Glenton 17 fish best to 7lbs, both anglers from Ashington and all fish were returned on Black Buzzer.
Thankyou
Colin Bill.
