Thornton Reservoir fishing report week ending 30/03/08
Yet again another windy, almost gale force & rain week which again kept the rods off the water with the 107 rods who ventured out on the better days catching 150 trout & returning 36 again a below average week for us but with nearly 5000 trout still in the reservoir since opening day its just a matter of time before were enjoying the sport we expect for the time of year.
Thornton Fly Fishers fished their bank match on Sunday with the eventual winner been Des Glover with his 6 fish limit taken on Black lures & orange tadpoles.
The majority of the trout are within 25 yards of the bank along the shallows of the Thornton Arm, wood bank & down past the lonesome pine with bank anglers if anything enjoying the best of the sport.
With the clocks having gone forward lets hope we get some more spring like weather to raise the water temperature above the 7 degrees it is at the moment.
