Report for week ended 15th March.
Rod average 2.9 - hard work with these very cold North Easterlies. It's
been such a windy year and now the winds have turned bitterly cold. It's
difficult to decide on the catching pattern this week. There has been no
definite and quite a few of the anglers have reported takes as soon as
they have put on a new fly - then no interest until they have change the
pattern again. This seems likely because on spooning the trout, they do
not seem to have a settled natural diet either. Normally you can find
them stuffed with one particular favourite such as bloodworms or
buzzers. The stomach contents of a trout caught on Sunday contained a
stickleback, a stonefly larva, bloodworm and tiny white molluscs.
Only one double to report this week. Ryan Barron from Coxhoe in Co
Durham landed an 18lb 11oz rainbow on a Black Zonker - and very pretty
it was too!

Can I just mention that we will be open on Bank Holiday Monday.
Thankyou,
