Yet another great weeks fishing at Foremark with the rod average remaining high at 7.8. There has been some excellent sport seen this week especially on the bank in flamingo bay where local angler Scott Wilson caught 44 fish in just over 3 hours on a gold head rubber legged daddy on an intermediate line. He commented that flamingo bay was alive with fish as did fellow angler Clive Wilkins who also had 25 fish from the bay on Saturday, on an olive damsel. Saturday also saw over 70 anglers turn up to experience the superb sport, with the majority of them catching stockies high up in the water on buzzers, black and green fritz and tadpoles. While other anglers who were keen to fish deeper using boobies, pulled out some fantastic residents up to the 7lb mark. Although Sunday wasn’t the best day weather wise, the Coppenhall lads were not put off and fished in the awful weather to catch their 6 fish. What can I say, apart from I won the match thanks to my first catch of the day, which was a 6lb 2 oz over wintered fish, which I caught outside the lodge on a di3, using a black and green fritz which I tied in the morning. Some anglers had bagged up by lunchtime, whilst others stuck it out to get their best 6 fish. One of these was newcomer, 14 yr old Rossini Rao who caught his last fish of the day over in sunblest bay on a fly we tied earlier, only half an hour before the match ended. He couldn’t have been happier with his 6 fish especially when they weighed in at a hefty 14lb 10 oz and got him into 3rd place. The match was won by myself with my 6 fish weighing in at a brilliant 19lb 5oz. Whilst the bank anglers experienced some first class sport throughout the week from the lodge front round to the power lines, the boat anglers have also had their fair share of fish. The best boat areas appear to still be down carvers arm, around the cages and in flamingo bay, with anglers bagging up using various lure patterns. Gary Owen and his teenage son caught 24 fish between them using a black humungus 50 yards from the bank in the hot spot flamingo bay!

Pic Les wheeler from Nottingham with a fine blue trout weighing 7lb, Les tempted this from a boat outside the lodge on an orange booby.
