Report for Eglwys Nunydd 19/2/08
The lake continues to fish exceptionally well with most of the regulars taking their 10 fish catch and release limit with a variety of flies and methods.
There have been a number of day ticket anglers who have also managed their 10.
Most favoured method being a floating line with olive or white lures but the use of the sinking line and boobies also works well especially in the recent bright sunshine which drives the fish down to the bottom.
The fish remain feeding on the abundant fry that are in the lake but it is noticeable that a few buzzers are starting to hatch and it won’t be long before the fish turn and start feeding on them.
The Brown record for the lake of 11lb14 oz has been broken a cracking 13 lb excellent conditioned fish was captured and released by Mr Hugh Williams it was touch and go as to whether the capturer or the captive needed the resuscitation after a 15 minute battle but all survived to live another day.
The motorway side of the lake predominantly fishes the best with the Yacht bay Short Wall and Top bay receiving most attention from the local anglers this will inevitably change as the fish start spreading out all over the lake.
There is Suspected Blue Green Algae reported in the lake by the Environment Agency so please read the Posted notices prior to fishing.
