From excellent to tricky this week depending on the day!

Thursday brought many trout to the fly with it's warm winds but they
were so fit that the anglers were losing them off as fast as they were
getting them on. Everyone enjoyed the sport but the average wasn't great
- unlike Friday when fishing really was excellent. Rods were bent and
fish were caught throughout the day. Saturday brought more typical
winter weather - strong and bitterley cold winds and freezing heavy
rain. The fishing didn't pick up until late afternoon when the wind
finally dropped away but most had gone home by then - probably for a
warm bath and a whisky or two!!

Largest this week:-
15lb 10oz & 13lb 12oz. Both caught by Mr Dan Swales from Great Ayton on
a Cat's Whisker
12lb 12oz. Caught by Mr Terry Ross from Willington again on a Cat's Whisker
12lb 8oz. Caught by Mr Les Page from Ashington on a Black Fritz.
Best patterns have been the Cat's Whisker or again black lure patterns
or black bloodworm.

As I type this it's Sunday morning and we are coming in to the last week
of fishing before our January break. The day has started with a good 17
pounder and we hope to end our year with a good weeks fishing. Just to
mention again - our closing dates will be as usual over the New Year -
closed Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, open Thursday, Friday, Saturday &
Sunday. In January we are closed from the 7th to 30th inclusive - open
again on the 31st.

All the best for the New Year
Thankyou,
Dave & Sandra
