Strong winds and driving rain hampered sport slightly the last few weeks and has also put a bit of colour in the lakes. Still plenty of anglers fishing despite the weather with quality fish being caught rather than quantity.
This last week has seen plenty of big fish being caught with a lot of big out of season browns (up to 14lb) being carefully returned.
Best methods on Meadow and Lakemoor have been Red and Black Buzzers size 12’s and 10’s or plain Nymphs fished on a floating line and long leader. However, on Marsh Lake Black Nomads and Black and Green Tanski’s have been catching fish.
Cranymoor - Ellerdines big fish lake - has seen plenty of sport with fish to 15lb being caught fishing an Orange or Black Rubber Legged Daddy or a weighted Bloodworm pattern.
Rod average the last 2 weeks has been around 4.5 fish per angler and an average weight of around 4lbs per fish across the fishery.
Meadow and Marsh Lakes will be closed Sunday 10th Dec due to our Fur and Feather competition. Ellerdine continues to be stocked at least once a week during winter.
