Witton Castle Lakes Week Ending 18.11.07
Witton Castle Lakes Week Ending 18.11.07

Extremely cold week along with short dark nights are not conducive to fishing, we should be all infront of the fire with a nice glass of malt. However anglers braving the elements have been rewarded with fish in the 2 to 5lb bracket, with no big fish being taken, although they are cruising the margin's gorging up for the long winter period, which is surely upon us all. A Black Zonker fished in the margins similiar to Blyth Palmers method at Jubilee Lakes is catching fish upto 5lbs, but the remaining big fish are turning at the last minute, maybe they can see our extended shadows out into water ,during the brighter period of the day. One particular angler believe this or not , fishing a Hares Ear Klinkhammer just in the ripple had a superb day, went off with a smile on his face, whilst other anglers struggled with all variations of lures.
The suprise of the week was a nice conditioned 6lb Goldie which the cormorants have not yet got, never been seen before by the angler

A photo from a mobile phone of Duncan Pallister's Goldie.

Duncan Pallister from Hunwick, who carefully returned it, lured by a Dawsons Olive.
Terry Ross from Willington secured a nice bag at 5, 4, and 3lb. along with Kevin Clark from Wardley at 4lb 4oz, 2lb 8oz, and 2lb 8ozs.
Roy Richley from Birmingham on his first visit to the area commented on the quaulity of the fish, and left with fish of 4lbs 4ozs, 3, and 2lb.
Not big fish ,but quality, fully finned fighting fit.
