Wet Weather & Record Perch!
Elinor July 20 - August 2
Thornton Fishing report week ending 04/11/07
A mixed weeks fishing with anglers taking fish on a variety of patterns from buzzers to boobies. There really doesn’t seem to be any pattern to the fishing as we enter our last fortnights fishing for the 2007 season, it would seem the frosts we needed to get the fish onto the fry are not going to happen.
The best of the fishing is to be had between 10am & late afternoon up to when the temperature drops with anglers who are prepared to pull the anchor up and trying different spots catching best.
Fly patterns are varying day to day depending on the weather, Norman Perkins fished on a particular mild day which gave us a buzzer hatch, he promptly put his lures away put on his buzzers & caught 6. Brian Smith fished an intermediate line & fritz damsel to catch 5, whilst Peter Broad fished on Sunday to catch his 5 on hares ears & diawl bach. Roy Ensor fished a booby & buzzers for his 5 while 7 year old Brandon the son of season permit holder Rev Chip helped his father to catch 6 trout with 7 year old Brandon taking the largest fish at 4lb4oz on a white lure.
