Thornton weekly fishing report week ending 21/10/07
With only 4 weeks left to the end of this current season, our last day falls on Sunday 18th November we still have a healthy head of trout in the reservoir with over 7000 trout still in the water.
Despite the good head of trout the sport last week wasn’t easy with some anglers still catching on buzzers & dries while others found fish along the margins catching them on damsels & small minkies.
With 4 nights of frost last week & with the water temperature down to 13 degrees we should see more fish move into the margins after the fry with the shallows of the wood bank, farm bank & stones been a favorite area to try.
It has also become noticeable this last week, coinciding with the colder mornings that the most productive time to fish has been the period from 11am through to 4.00pm with cats whiskers, minkie booby & damsel being the most productive patterns with the rod average for the week at 1.9
