FISHERY REPORT FOR WITTON CASTLE LAKES FOR WEEK ENDING 30/9/07
What a strange week, Thursday saw a cold North wind but pond olives hatching
in big numbers and fish taking them off the top. Then a mild weekend and
fish feeding on the top and sub surface.
CDC olive emergers ,and Daddies have been fishing really well on the
surface. Just under the surface GRHE, Pheasant Tails and Olive Buzzers are
best, deeper in the water column Black and Green Zonkers, Bloodworms and
Cats Whisker are all doing the business.
Best fish this week fell to Bernie Mc Kewan from Meadowfield on a sporting
permit his biggest ever at 20lbs taken on a Black and Green Zonker.
Steven Knight from Bishop Auckland had an 18lbder on a Black Fritz.
Stuart Hambleton from Bishop Auckland had a 13 3/4 lbder on a Pink Bloodworm
, and P. Robinson had a 9 3/4 lbder.
RIVER WEAR
River had a 12" lift of water on Monday this week but quickly dropped back
to summer level. However Stan Hunter from Binchester landed a 19lb. salmon
on shrimp, along with Paul Walton from Willington a 12lb. salmon on a
Rapala. Both fish being returned back to the river to spawn.
