Thornton Fishing Report week ending 16/09/07
Not an easy weeks fishing although at times anglers reported plenty of trout feeding on the surface during any overcast periods during the day & especially during the evening. On spooning some of the trout caught they had been feeding on small brown buzzers (size 14) during the day with a large claret buzzer & sedges during the evening.
Small emerges, buzzers & size 14 whickams & G&H sedge worked best with boats on the drift enjoying the better sport with the area from the dam to the cages & cages to the stones producing best.
Our large autumnal stocking went in last week 3,000 rainbows once they settle we should be in for a good backend.
Our water temperature this morning is 17 degrees with a cooler forecast for this week our water temperature will continue to cool & our water clarity should become gin clear.
