Thornton fishing report week ending 05/08/07
Well summer arrived this week & its hard to believe we had all that rain a few short weeks ago. The water level has returned to normal with visibility at around 3ft but the sun has pushed our surface water temperature to around the 20 degree mark.
Not surprisingly therefore the trout have moved back into the cooler deeper water around the cages & dam with the cooler morning session producing best. Sinking line & boobies were the most productive method of the week, Ralph Jordan & Roy Towers caught 12 for their morning session, T. Cross caught 10 on cormorants for his Sunday morning visit, Peter Royle fished an orange booby to take 8 while Gary Drew also fished an orange booby for his 7. Some rods are starting to catch on a long leader 20ft+ under a sight bob & buzzers with the area between the valve tower & the main car park producing best to this method with Dave Saunt taking a 4lb14oz rainbow on a buzzer. M.Whitworth fished a Montana under a sight bob to catch 3 trout with the largest at 5lb8oz.
My advice during August is to keep in touch with the lodge via the phone or email for an up to date fishing report. 01530 230807
