LOCH FITTY

MAIN LOCH

Whilst the fishing has been difficult on the main loch the occasional angler has bucked the trend, most of the trout are lying in 10-12ft of water & are full of small roach & daphnia, the tip is to fish slow & deep with booby’s or sparklers mainly in the deeper areas. The water temperature is now at 14 degrees with the clarity improving, low oxygen levels during the month has made the fish lethargic & unwilling to chase, though some nice fish have been landed all over the 2lb mark.

The Fire service had 12 fish for 27lb, Mr Matheson from Dunfermline had 5 fish for 11lb 12oz, Mr Brown from Cowdenbeath had 4 fish for 9lb 1oz, Mr Jones on holiday from South Africa had 3 fish for 7lb 9oz. Best trout for July was a beauty of 5lb 2oz for Mr McPhie fishing with the Perth Anglers.

It is hoped that the cooler weather of late will re-oxygenate the water & bring the fish back on the feed.

Best Flies Orange Blob, White Cat, Yellow Dancer & Kate Mclaren,

Best Areas Stoney Bank, Cushat wood & Fitty Deeps,

Best Lines DI 3 TO DI7 with the occasional floaters.

TEAL BAY

There is good rises throughout the day with plenty of action on the surface, however the tip is fish deep & ignore the surface feeders, as they are pre-occupied.

Best recent catches are, Dick Sneddon from Oakley 4 fish 10lb 8oz on a Hare’s Ear, Tom Stevenson from Dunfermline 3 fish for 7lb 8oz on a booby, Phillip West 2fish for 4lb on buzzers, George Mills from Glenrothes 2 fish for 5lb 8oz & Mr Dickson from Dunfermline 4 fish 9lb 10oz on an Appetiser.

The evening session is seeing a lot of surface activity around the last hour, with plenty of feeding fish, the tip is put on a floating line with a Diawl Bach & Hoppers.

There is now a boat for hire on the bay, for more details please contact the lodge.

Best Flies Yellow Dancer, Cats Whisker, Damsel, Hare’s Ear & Montana

Best Lines Intermediate & Floater

LODGE BAY

The biggest Carp of the season so far was landed, weighed & carefully returned at the weekend by one of our season ticket holders weighing a massive 20lb exactly, tempted by floating dog biscuits. The Roach & Perch are still being caught on size 18 hooks & single maggot or casters.

Anglers will only be allowed onto the Coarse Pond if they have the appropriate tackle ie: unhooking mats etc.

 ACADEMY BAY (Bait Only)

Great sport & cracking fish off the bait bay this week with Maggot & Power Bait doing well. Mr Gray from Dunfermline had 6 crackers for 13lb on Power Bait, Mr Coulter from Alloa had 5 fish for 11lb 8oz also on Power Bait & Messers Max & Brodie had 7 fish for 14lb between them on Maggot. The tip of the week is fish on the bottom with a long cast out into the middle, there are also now 2 boats available for hire on the bait bay, please contact the lodge for information.

Best Baits Maggots, Worms & Power Bait

Best Areas Bank o' Reeds & Jetty 1
