Best Areas
Bank - east arm, brookside, coarse bank
Boat - deep water off pylon or anchored off gravel bar weed beds
Best Patterns
damsel nymph, dry damsel, daddies, cruncher, diawl bach, hares ear cdc, black/green fritz.
Boat anglers are getting big bags of fish on a variety of methods:
- floating line, 16ft leader, team of buzzers
- sinking line (Di3 or Hi-D) with black/green or white green lures
- dry adult damsels or cdc buzzers
Bank anglers are having better sport than usual in July. The water is much cooler than normal and at a higher level. Unusually many of the larger fish are still falling to bank anglers. The weed growth is restricting methods to top of the water methods - a great excuse to practice your dry fly technique!
- dry adult damsel, dry daddies, olive, black or hares ear cdc
- washing line with olive booby on point/diawl bach and cruncher on droppers
Next stocking: July 17th and 20th
It is with great sadness that I report that part time Elinor bailliff, Tommy Wood, passed away in June.
Tommy was a great character and a superb buzzer angler who taught me how to fish this deadly method well before it became the norm on reservoirs.
