The big fish keep on coming out of Foremark Reservoir. We have seen some cracking fish getting caught this week with a 13lb 4oz rainbow being the pick of the bunch. Mr R Haywood has landed the biggest rainbow of the year just a week after the brown trout record was smashed. Mr Haywood took the magnificent fish fishing from the bank at Hut Point using a Montana on an intermediate line. The rainbow put up a great fight and had Mr Haywood down to his backing. “I couldn’t believe that any fish could have this much power,” said an excited Mr Haywood.

Ray Jeffrey had a stunning brownie this week of 6lb 10oz which is a cracking fish in any lake, that was weighed, witnessed and then returned ready to do battle next year.

Rens had a great couple of days fishing taking 2 fish over the 4lb mark with the best being a rainbow of 5lb 6oz taken from the boat over in the Cascade. Rens used a Minkie Booby on a sinking line to tempt these cracking fish.

The rod average has risen slightly this week up to 3.4 which is still a great average and the fish are still coming out and there are plenty more left with lots more doubles still to be had. The water temp is still warmish so boat anglers are still having great days out in the open water in front of the lodge and across the Cavers Arm.

Bank anglers are still heading for the Points and the Boat Jetty, but slowly and surely the fish are converging into Flamingo Bay (Dead Mans Cove). The top patterns have been the Minkie Booby or Minkie’s on an intermediate line.  But the fish are still up in the water so floating lines will still catch you the fish.

Looking ahead to next week I’m sure we will see a lot more fish round the banks and the fry should take a hammering. Will another big fish come out before the end of the season on the 30 November? The fish that I have seen hitting fry are well up past the 8lb mark, so with not long left in the season get down here and give it a go who knows that fish might be a fish of a lifetime and another fishery record. Tight Lines.
