Thornton Fishing Report from the 2/07/07 – 6/07/07
This reports is posted early as I'm away from the fishery next week for a holiday.
During the first 5 days of this week 84 rods caught 226 trout returning 114 for a rod average 2.7 The top of the Thornton Arm continues to produce in the morning & evening with fish feeding on the sedge hatches. Other notable areas to try have been the corner of the green bay, stones, wood & when the wind permitted along the farm bank.
When the weather has been overcast the trout have been in the top layers of the water taking dry sedge patterns, suspender buzzers, red diawl bach & chasing muddlers & booby through the wave. During brighter spells an intermediate or wetcel2 line with black & green tadpoles, damsels & a diawl bach have worked well.
Notable catches for the week were made by Roy Stroud & Nigel Haigh who caught 40 trout between them, Mick Martin caught 8 for his afternoon visit, Norman Perkins caught 10 drifting with a suspender buzzer for his morning visit while Roger Jones caught 9 & Clive Holt found the fish for his evening session catching 13.
During my week away the fishery will be stocked direct from the fish farm with 550 trout to be stocked on Thursday.
