One good thing about the weather is that the water is cool, clear and fresh in the lakes. There are lots of fly hatching , with Damsels, Buzzers and Alders being the most prolific.
Best top of the water flies are still Shipmans and CDC with an Olive or Hares Ear bodies, and black or Olive Buzzers continue to fish well sub surface.
Darren Murgatroyd, from Northshields had an excellent day on a sporting permit, returning 21 fish to 6lbs.
Joe Myers, from Leadgate had a belter of 18 ½ lbs on an Olive Fritz.
Brad Hill from Northshields, had an 18lb er on a Blob and Brian Cunningham from Whitley Bay had a 16 ½ lber, on his own style of Black Buzzer.
The river Wear is now having good runs of Seatrout and some Salmon.
John Green had a nice brace of Seatrout at 8lbs and 6 lbs, and Paul Walton had a 8 ¼ lb Seatrout.
Reports are coming in of other good fish being caught and returned by Bishop Auckland Anglers Club Members.
