Despite the strong, cold easterly winds we enjoyed an excellent weeks fishing with 159 rods catching 589 trout returning 242 for rod average 3.7 The trout are still close in the margins feeding on bloodworm, buzzer & early for us damsel nymphs.
The bank anglers are still enjoying good sport with Dave Probert winning the Thornton Fly Fishers Bank match with 6 fish for 10lb7oz. The shallows of the Thornton Arm, wood & farm bank are still producing well to floating or intermediate lines with damsel, Montana, diawl bach, cruncher, bloodworm & buzzers taking fish.
Bill Nichols fished the bank to catch 11 on buzzers & gold head hares ear, Mr & Mrs King caught 18 between them on Montana, T. Thompson caught 11 on buzzers, G. Webb fished an afternoon session to catch 12 on damsels & buzzers, P. Broad caught 12 on hares ear & diawl bach, J. Gunby caught 16 off the farm bank , M. Phillis caught 14 on diawl bach & buzzers while R. Naylor returned an over wintered 4lb brown & P. Hunt returned a 5lb rainbow.
