Last week was pretty much wrote off as high water levels (highest Ive seen in over three years) & coloured water put paid to any sport. A few anglers did venture out however & towards the weekend as conditions improved the fishing did as well.
Geoff Willis caught the best fish of the season so far 9lb13oz rainbow on a booby, M. Peacock returned to fly fishing after a number of years, borrowed a pair of waders from the lodge & promptly took 3 fish off the bank on a white lure, P. Cope fished the bank opposite the lodge & caught 4 fish to 2lb for his 3 hour visit.
Bright coloured blobs & lures have produced best, but with the improving water clarity & a few buzzers hatching during the last couple of days it may be worth fishing a bright lure on the point & buzzers on the dropper.
The weather forecast for the coming week looks excellent with improving conditions & a bonus stocking this week to stir the resident trout sport should continue to improve.
As always feel free to contact the lodge for up to date fishing information 01530 230807.
