In between the wind & the rain we enjoyed a reasonable weeks fishing with 168 rods catching 454 trout returning 172 for a rod average 2.7
With the cooler wind & colder nights (first frost of the autumn last night Sunday) anglers using intermediate or slow sinking lines with black & green tadpoles, white & green tadpoles, cats whiskers & small minkie produced best along the wood bank, lonesome pine, farm bank & stones. The most productive time of day to fish has been 11.00am – 5.00pm
During the early part of last week Clive Holt caught 11 on hoppers & daddies but with the colder winds later in the week lures dominated the catches with Dave Leavesley using a black & green gold head to catch 13. Steve Warner fished blobs to take his 8 fish while the British Float Tubing Association fished their fur & feather match at the weekend with notable catches by Russ Whitmore 10 trout, Steve Naylor 17 trout.
Some trout spooned this past week have had large perch fry in them, a few more colder frosty evenings should see an increase in the amount of trout attacking the fry along the margins.
