With our surface water temperature at 18 degrees & for most of the week a westerly or southwesterly wind our fishing continues to improve with plenty of fish to be seen feeding off the surface if a little difficult to tempt at times.
Last night (Sunday 24th) we had a terrific buzzer hatch during the last hour resulting in trout moving all over the reservoir.
During the week our rod average was 2.2 with 166 rods catching 359 trout returning 125. The most unusual catch of the week was made by Andy Downes fishing from a boat hooked a blue trout which dived under the boat only to jump out of the water on the other side straight into Andys boat with hook & leader still attached.
Notable catches for the week 8 trout on sedges to Russ Martin during a brief 2½ hour visit, Norman Perkins caught 13 for his visit, Paddy Fitch fished twice during the week catching 14 & 7.
Hoppers, suspender buzzers, sedges, daddies, muddlers & buzzers have all caught fish during the week with the area in front of the main dam, stones, orange buoy & farm bank all producing.
The forecast for the coming week looks good, plenty of cloud & not too hot.
The best of the fishing continues to be from the boats, our bank fishing will start to pick up from late September onwards, to book boats call the lodge 01530 230807
