Toft Newton w/e 22/08/08
81 anglers caught 514 fish rod average 6.3
An excellent week this week with near spot on weather every day. Cloudy and breezy conditions have kept fish near the surface. Many anglers taking advantage of the fiver boat offer have done well, with fish feeding out over deeper water. Regular celebrity Dinnington plumber Trev Ward had the best catch with 26 fish, taken on a variety of buzzer and cruncher patterns, which were 'stolen' from local Scouse legend Pete Cowan!!
Sedge patterns, hoppers, crunchers, buzzers and traditional wets have all been successful this week, with damsels and cat's whiskers once again a good standby. Bank sport has been patchy with anglers prepared to do a bit of leg work doing best. As a rule, West bank & North West corner are the place to be.
Fantastic evening rises over the last few nights again with plenty of green buzzers and sedges hatching.
Best fish this week, a 5Ib 2oz rainbow to Dave Smith from Leeds (photo attached). He fished on Wednesday with 6 colleagues from West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service. The 7 of them had a tremendous days fishing out on the boats, managing 94 fish !!
*** August fiver boat deal worth taking advantage of - all rowing boats just a fiver at anytime. ***
A limited number of Scierra IC3 reels on offer at Toft - reduced from £50 to £30 !
