Monday 7th July – Saturday 12th July

The week started off well enough, for one of our members at least.  Paul Moran took a nice 8lb Salmon, complete with sea lice.  He was especially pleased as it was taken on a home tied Red Francis, size 12 double.  Tuesday bought us a Grilse from Bonar Bridge; unfortunately no other details were forthcoming.  The same afternoon club member Jim macadam took an 8lb Salmon from the Scap, the fish showing seal damage with part of it’s tail missing.  Wednesday was blank, well maybe not for the seal that was patrolling the waters in Bonar Bridge.  Thursday saw a visiting angler take a 9lb Salmon at the Honeypot in Bonar Bridge, along with a nice 2lb Sea Trout.  There are now Sea Trout in good numbers and of a good size being taken, with all of the fish being in very good condition.  Friday saw another triumph for Paul Moran, again fishing the Scap just after 4.15 am on his third cast he was in.  Following a bit of a struggle during which he was down to the backing no less than three times he landed a 12lb fish, which he then returned.  His vey next cast and he was in again, this time a Salmon of 9lb was landed.  He had two fish for four casts the sort of problem we would all like.  His three fish for the week were taken on the same Red Francis, which is now looking a bit battered!  That was it for the week.  The Grilse run is expected soon, hopefully within the week or so, they should be here, I have ordered them!
