There have been many highlights during the season, not least the 40th birthday celebrations at Derwent which resulted in that beautiful 18lb 11oz rainbow for Graham Johnstone. Fontburn and Scaling each had rod averages of over 6 fish per angler during June and Grassholme provided some fantastic late season sport with loads of 5lb blues and rainbows being caught. Not to be outdone Kielder celebrated its 25th birthday by stocking a number of 10lb golden trout, with the lucky anglers who caught one each winning a luxury break in a Kielder log cabin.
The combined rod average for the season was an excellent 3.2 fish per angler!

Ranger's review:
Strong Westerly winds made fishing difficult for anglers during the final week of the season
at Scaling Dam. Nevertheless with the fish still feeding most anglers caught a fish or two.
Fly fishing produced the best results, with several rods taking four fish. A Goldhead Dawson's Olive tempted the most fish, whilst the first bay on the South Shore was the best location.
The Rangers at Scaling would like to thank anglers for their support during the 2007 season,
which ended with a very respectable 3.1 rod average, and look forword to seeing everyone
again next year.
Best flies: Dawson's Olive.
Best baits: Worm/Powerbait.
Best areas: The East End of the Lake.
