Rutland Water
fish for week 229 (season 35,751) returns 72(11,983) rod average 3.18 (2.98)
Rutland Water is in incredible form - boat anglers are averaging five fish and bank fishing is picking up. Amongst the local anglers and season ticket holders reporting plenty of fish were Paul Wild from Stamford with seven fish. Jamie Weston (Exton) and Andrew took 11 fish, whilst John Wotherspoon from Stamford and Brian Flack of Orton Longueville, Peterborough, recorded twelve fish at the weekend. From further afield, Roger Gibbons of Norfolk, fished mid week, taking seven cracking fish including a 4lb 2oz rainbow. Fish are still feeding hard on daphnia with a few taking fry.
Bank anglers have begun to take fish when the strong westerly winds ease. Oakham’s Peter de Kramer hooked four good rainbows from East Creek using a floating line and minkies. He also had one or two other takes as well. The best bank areas last weekend were either side of the Harbour Walls, followed by Whitwell, Normanton and Yellowstone.
Saturday 24 November is the inaugural match for the Donny Hampson Memorial Trophy. This match is held in memory of Donny Hampson who died earlier this year. Although Donny, aged 24, lived hundreds of miles away in Renfrewshire, Scotland, his favourite fishery was Rutland Water. His parents, Anna and Donald, supported by friends and work colleagues, have organised this annual bank match in memory of Donny. The match is open to everyone with fishing commencing at 9am.
Sunday 25 November is the final day for boat fishing. To avoid disappointment please ensure that you have booked a boat before travelling.

Grafham Water
fish for week 51 (season 20,383) returns 39 (5,774) rod average 1.3(3.53)
The fishing at Grafham Water has been excellent this week for both bank and boat anglers. The majority of trout have been caught on fry imitations and small nymphs, mainly from the eastern end of the reservoir at a depth of 8 feet.
Boat anglers have had their best results from fishing Gaynes Cove or G buoy and the Willows on Di 3’s and 5’s with minkies, cats whiskers and diawl bachs. Bank anglers have enjoyed their best sport by fishing Gaynes Cove and the south end of the dam with the occasional good session fishing the seat and sludge bank.
Pike anglers have had some good days fishing this week, mainly from fishing the north and dam towers. Pike up to 17lb have been caught and Zander up to 13lb on jerk baits.
