Grafham Water
fish for week 503 (season18485) returns 182 (4992) rod average 2.76 (3.7)
Grafham Water has fished well this week with the fish well up in the water feeding either on daphnia or fry. Most anglers are using intermediate or slow sinkers with a booby on the point to keep the flies well up in the water. There is still sport in the harbour for the bank anglers with the fish coming on the feed towards mid afternoon. There are still a few fish around the 3-4lb mark being caught.
This weekend saw the final round of the major clubs series with all 3 divisions coming together with points still to win which could see teams relegated or promoted. The overall rod average of the match was a mighty 5.5 and after all the points were calculated Ivor were relegated from the first division to be replaced by a promoted Bristol Team. Invicta was relegated from the second into the third division with Fish Hawks B gaining promotion into the second division.
On Sunday Grafham Water hosted the annual rudder match. Anglers fished as a pair, weighing in their best brace. Best brown (5lb 10oz) went to Ken Plowright with Rob Edmunds taking the best rainbow at 4lb 4oz.

Dave Finch recorded a 5lb 2oz rainbow on the bank. Bob Berryman recorded a 5lb 2oz and a 6lb 8oz brown both of which were returned.

Bob Worts, from Riseley, Beds and Mike Bachini of West Perry, enjoyed a fine day’s sport this week taking over 20 fish of up to 7lb whilst fishing dries from a drifting boat. Mike Clarke and Keith Harding fished a range of bright blobs on sinking lines from an anchored boat to take a total of 29 rainbows.
Overcast conditions with a ripple have encouraged fish to feed high in the water with late olives and buzzers the main diet. Hopper, GRHE and small spiders are the most successful flies with traditional wets also taking fish.
