Nigel Savage, Warden at Rutland Water, says "Expect a very good start to the new season on 1 April. The reservoir has been at the top of its water level for a few months now and fish should be close in." Nigel recommends some of the following methods for Rutland Water
bank Floating/Intermediate lines
lures black and green tadpoles, dawsons olive leaded damsel nymph , cats whisker
boobies in black, orange (minkies also worth a try).
nymphs black buzzer (small) possibly leaded diawl bach, hares ear, bloodworm and pheasant tail (plenty of buzzers have been hatching in the recent mild weather)
boat anglers anything from floating lines down to fast sinking. Flies as above, but include various cormorants plus gold/silver sparklers
