ANGLIAN WATERS 2007 FISHERIES NEWS.....OPENING DAYS

New season’s plans for anglers

Spring is on the way and it’s a great opportunity to take up angling and enjoy the attractive surroundings and fresh air at Anglian Water’s reservoirs.
Opening dates and arrangements for permits and boat hire at four trout and four coarse fisheries are contained in an attractive 64 page magazine Hooked! available at Anglian Water’s reservoirs.

Ravensthorpe, Northants, will be the first to open on 1st March followed by Pitsford on the 9th, Grafham Water 16th and Rutland Water 1st April. Our coarse fisheries at Hollowell, Taverham, Alton and Ardleigh are open throughout the year.

The wide range of day and half-day permits priced at between £13 and £25,
Lower cost Senior Citizens and ‘Kids go Free’ offers have been retained along with the six season permits which include all four fisheries and are increasingly attractive to anglers living up to100 miles from theses prestige venues.
Hiring a motor boat for fishing a full day will cost £25 at Rutland Water or Grafham Water and £21 at Pitsford Water and £20 at Ravensthorpe this year.  Reductions for part day and single-manned boats bring the cost down to as low as £11.

Anglian Water’s fishery manager Jon Marshall said, ‘ We are all set for a great season and plan to release around 180,000 trout into four reservoirs. The quality of our fishing has attracted many angling holidays and special events including the Ladies International at Grafham Water and the English National Championships at Rutland Water.  Demand from beginners is so high that we have arranged 75 one-day fly-fishing courses starting in March costing only £49 and make an ideal gift ’

Everyone interested in taking up fly fishing is invited to our ‘Open House’ at the Rutland Water Fishing Lodge on Sunday 25 February between 10am and 3pm.

For details of these and our coarse fisheries visit www.anglianwaterleisure.co.uk or ask for a copy of Hooked!
