Loop Tackle
Glenda’s association with Loop has now taken a further leap forward. She is a member of their No. 1 Pro Team, and now has her own page on their site
as part of their impressive list of instructors. She will also feature in their 2008 catalogue.
Glenda’s Loop page can be found on:  http://www.looptackle.com/website1/sd_page/563/1/index.php
Loop website direct:  http://www.looptackle.com/website1/sd_page/132/1/index.php

Loop’s current catalogue says it all:
As part of our philosophy to develop & simplify fly-fishing, casting & fishing schools have always been extremely important. Learning to use your gear correctly as a beginner or just to sharpen your technique prior to the coming season guarantees fishing will be more fun.
We have gathered some of the absolute best in the field so that our customers get exactly what they need to develop correctly & improve their skills. If you want to learn to fly-fish or just sharpen your skills, contact one of these guys (girls!).

Shooting Head & Underhand Cast Seminar
Scandinavia is where these have been created and developed.
We have been fortunate to be able to arrange a one day course with one of Loop’s foremost experts – Thomas Berggren from Sweden.
This will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2008.      Cost: €150
Places will be strictly limited to 15 only. Priority given to those booking Opening Weekend package.

Thomas Berggren is a 42 year old EFFA certified Flycasting Instructor (European Fly Fishing Association). He is a Scandinavian Instructor & Guide with 30 years experience of both single & two-handed fly-fishing. A few years ago Thomas started Lilla Malma Fishery in Sweden. This fishery has since developed into a Loop Fly Fishing School.  In the mid 1980s, Thomas met Goran Andersson for the first time. Goran is the ”father” of the Scandinavian underhand technique with shooting heads. At that time Thomas was a student at Goran’s Fly Casting school. As one of the most skilful students, Thomas was soon drafted into the Loop team.   Besides the single-handed fly-casting courses he runs at Lilla Malma, Thomas gives tuition on Double Handed Rod & Salmon fishing in Norway every summer. His specialty is the underhand technique using shooting heads.

Programme
Saturday’s course will commence with a presentation in the Lodge on shooting heads, their advantages/disadvantages and setting up.  He will demystify :
- Rod requirements
- how to put lines  together
- how to get the weights right for the rod
- choice of running lines etc etc.

Thereafter, it’s off to the river where we have a casting platform for a demo on shooting heads followed by a workshop/casting clinic.  Throughout the day - whilst giving instruction on shooting heads – we’ll compare them with Spey lines, highlight the common casting faults with both methods, and give participants the chance to improve their technique with both methods.
Course notes will be provided for participants.
Thomas will be at Blackwater Lodge from January 31 to February 3 inclusive, so it’s a great opportunity to meet him Friday or Saturday night for a course group dinner as well.
