New plans for Carsington Water
Carsington Water have many new prospects for the 2007 season including:
* New Extended Season - 24th March - 21st October * 50% increase in stocking levels * Brown and Rainbow Trout * Weekly Stocking * New Fleet of 4 stroke outboards * Fly Fishing Competitions and Tagged Fish * Introductory and Improver Flyfishing courses on offer.
Amongst the competitions next year we are hoping to host an individual heat of the Lexus European Flyfishing Championship. This Fantastic competition boasts prestige and a fabulous prize structure as well as a goody bag for every competitor containing, amongst many other things, a fly line worth more than the entry fee. Our flyfishing courses will be run on the first Saturday of April, May, June, July, August and September. There are two courses available:
Introduction to Fishing with a Fly An opportunity to learn the basics of Flyfishing, the course covers basic casting, knots and entomology. All equipment and a qualified instructor will be provided for the course. After you have learned how to throw a line you can fish from the bank for the rest of the day (for which you must have an EA rod licence and your own tackle). Meet at the Fishery Lodge at 10am prompt to finish at approx. 1pm. BOOKING ESSENTIAL as places are limited. Please ring or call into the fishery lodge 01629 540 769. Cost £20.00 per person. Please pay on the day at the Watersports Centre.
Improvers Fly Fishing Course Now you have learned to cast a fly why not take it one step further and learn to fish from a boat. On this course you will learn boat handling skills, reading the water, fishing on the drift with a drogue, fishing tactics and fly selection as well as further pointers on your casting. All equipment, boat hire and a qualified instructor will be provided for the course. After the course has finished you can continue to fish from your boat for the rest of the day (for which you must have an EA rod licence and your own tackle). Meet at the Fishery Lodge at 10am prompt to finish at approx. 1pm. BOOKING ESSENTIAL as places are limited. Please ring or call into the fishery lodge 01629 540 769. Cost £40.00 per person. Please pay on the day at the Watersports Centre
